This year's Ice Council meeting took place in St. John's, Newfoundland, in parallel with the annual NOIA conference. Being the centre of Canada's Offshore oil production, the city draws a large amount of people each year, with this year being no exeption. This was the first meeting with Andreas Kjøl as Chairman, after being handed the position from his predesessor Anders Backman last year in St. Petersburg. This year's meeting touched upon topics including recent arctic campaigns, technological efforts within Ice management and commercial opportunities going forward. We also got input on seismic campaigns in ice, as well as potential new methods for oil spill response in ice. The discussions were as always the most important part, which continued well into the closing reception. We look forward to seing everyone for next year's 10th Anniversary meeting. Information on that meeting will be announced on the website of Viking Ice Consultancy shortly. For more information on Viking Ice Council please see here.
